Lahm ist neuer Chef - Neuer steht im Tor

Löw: Volles Vertrauen in Lahm und Neuer

Neuer-wird-das-Vertrauen-rechtfertigen

Lahm named Germany captain
"Lahm has played in his position with great class and will take over the role of captain," Löw said at their Italian training camp. Bastian Schweinsteiger, on the pitch, will play the role of Ballack and interpret it in his way while Philipp Lahm will become captain. Schweinsteiger will be the vice captain." "With our young team we want to have the responsibilities shared by several players," he said.
Löw also appointed 24-year-old Neuer as the team's first-choice keeper.
Löw said he was in no hurry to finalise his 23-man squad and would do it just before the June 1 deadline. "I will take that decision only when I really have to because I want to keep my options open and have seen that players can always get injured," Löw said.

"World Cup Squad Cut will Hurt" says Germany's Löw

Germany coach Joachim Löw admitted two players are going to be "hurt" when he finalises his World Cup squad in the next two days.
Löw was to sit down with his training staff Sunday and Monday to decide which of the two players from his squad of 25 will be left out.
"We will consider what is the best combination. We can only take 23 players and it will hurt for two players," he said.
"Despite the loss of Michael Ballack I can see potential, also with the young players," he said. "We have a team in which a lot of players do not have a lot of experience, but have potential. How the young players react in extreme situations at a World Cup is difficult to forecast.

"There will be lots of speculation in the next few days," said Löw. "Of course, it will hurt for the players concerned, but unfortunately we can only take 23."
"I haven't yet got the two players in my head who won't be going," he admitted. "The decision will be brutal, not only for the players, but also for the coaches." - from Fox Sports

Miroslav Klose's Form Worries Germany Coach Joachim Loew

"It is clear that it will be no easy task to get Miroslav in form. It will be hard work, for him, for us. He has to work a lot. He still hasn't shown the form that he is actually capable of," said Löw to Bild.
"For Miro it is now about becoming more certain in training. People have often written Klose off in the past couple of seasons. But when it comes to it, he has always been there."

Löw Omits Andreas Beck from Squad
"Beck had an average season and of course it's disappointing for him," said Löw after announcing his squad on Tuesday.
"He invested a lot in the training camp and was always fair and correct. He addressed a few words to the team in a meeting and the team responded with applause. He is going to get another chance."
